Landing a UX Research Job

Join us for a panel discussion about getting hired for your next UX research role, whether you’re looking for your first job in the field or you want to move into a leadership or management role.

Come with your questions for our panel of experts. We expect to cover topics such as educational requirements, resume and portfolio tips, and the common pitfalls candidates make during the hiring process.

We're lucky to have the following panelists join us to share their knowledge:

Angie Amon - Angie is an Atlanta-based research and insights leader with over 30 years of experience in a variety of industries including media, financial services and tech. Her passion for UX and the practice of UX research began about 12 years ago when she joined the user experience research consultancy, User Insight, Inc. She has spent the last 3+ years as a Senior UX Research Manager at Intuit Mailchimp, a marketing, automation and email platform, leading a team of mixed-methods researchers.

Lauren DeFife - Laurent is a Senior Manager of UX Research at UserTesting. When Lauren found UX Research after years of doing research in cognitive psychology, that was her big career “aha” moment. She first learned about the discipline via her work with stroke survivors and seeing accessibility challenges in action, and she has been a passionate practitioner ever since. After working in-house and now in research consulting, she found that her strength is building high-performing research teams to deliver and elevate UX Research as an indispensable part of business decision-making.

Carol Bales - Carol is Senior Manager of Consumer Insights at The Weather Channel, where her team researches people and their weather needs. She draws upon a career in UX strategy and HCI to help businesses strike the right balance between business and audience needs, and to inform critical decision making. Carol also teaches Human-Computer Interaction at Georgia State University, where she is eager to empower the next generation to step forward with their careers so she can spend more time figuring out what Art-Science is.

Amanda Nance - Amanda has 20 years of experience in UX research, working in B2B software environments. As a Lead UX Researcher at UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group), she is involved in the hiring process for her team and spends the rest of her time leading a mix of strategic and tactical projects to understand customer needs and assess usability. Amanda has a passion for research methods and for teaching others how to conduct better research.

Recruiters and hiring managers, join us to meet some amazing candidates in person for your open positions.

This will be an in-person only event. Thank you to our friends at Sapient for hosting us!

We hope to see you there.
